Service Centre

Taking Care Of Your Polar Heart Rate Monitor

Sport In life is a division of Girot Trading Co.L.L.C. and the only authorized Polar ServiceCentre in the Middle East.

Polar recommend any servicing be performed by an authorized service centre (essential when in the warranty period). it is NOT recommended you service the product yourself or by a non-authorized service repairer.

However, if out of the warranty period you decide to get the Polar heart rate monitor serviced by a non-authorized Polar Service Centre (i.e.a jeweler/watchmaker), verify that:

    1. they are capable of servicing the monitor before proceeding(it is not a watch)
    2. they will warranty any work they perform
    3. insist that it is properly pressure tested to at least 20 meters after servicing

Sport in Life will not warranty any faults after servicing being performed by a non-authorized Polar Service Centre. Please have your Polar product only serviced by an authorized service centre during the 2 year factory international guarantee period.

Basic servicing information

Before sending your Polar Heart Rate Monitor to Sport In Life for service, please read the following information.

Your Polar Heart Rate Monitor is a high-tech instrument of superior design and workmanship and should be treated with care. The suggestions below will help you fulfill the warranty obligations and enjoy this product for many years to come.

  • Wash the Polar Transmitter regularly after use with a mild soap and water solution. Dry it carefully after washing.
  • Never store the Polar Transmitter wet. Sweat and moisture can keep its electrodes wet and the transmitter activated, which shortens the battery life.
  • Store your Polar Heart Rate Monitor in a cool and dry place. Do not store it in any kind of non- breathing material, such as a plastic bag or a sports bag if it is wet.
  • Do not bend or stretch the Polar Transmitter. This may damage the electrodes.
  • Keep your Polar Heart Rate Monitor out of extreme cold (below -10 °C/ 14 °F) and heat (above 50 °C/ 122 °F).
  • Do not expose the Polar Heart Rate Monitor to direct sunlight for extended periods, such as by leaving it in a car.
  • Don't dry the transmitter in any other way than with a towel. Hard-handed handling may damage the electrodes

Please check these items as well before you proceed to sending your Polar products…

  • Have you read the user's manual?
  • Is the transmitter belt being worn correctly? The Polar logo should be right side up and the belt should be flat against the skin.
  • Are the electrodes on the transmitter moist?
  • Is the transmitter clean? Regular washing with mild soap and water solution and thorough dry afterwards will ensure good conductivity
  • Is the receiver within a one meter range of the transmitter?
  • Check that there are no other transmitters within 1 meter if you have a non-coded transmitter.
  • Has the battery in the receiver been changed by an unauthorized partner, causing damage to the unit?
  • Have the receiver buttons been pressed under water, causing leakage in the receiver?
  • Static in clothing can cause electrical interference, so some items of clothing if they are made of man-made fibers, could be the cause. If the receiver's display is frozen, carry out a global reset if your receiver has that feature.
  • Chemicals in some swimming pools and sea water may effect the heart rate signal pick-up.
  • The heart rate signal strength may vary depending on the individual's tissue composition.
